Hey there,
I’m ABigail hudson
Born in the south & raised in the north
Originally from Alabama, my family made the move to Montana, where I was raised in 2010. The South instilled the importance of family and manners in my life, and the North provided a deep love for the outdoors. I'm the oldest of four girls, so as you can imagine, our house was filled with singing, crafts, and lots of stealing each other's clothes. My parents produced quite the artistic household surrounding us with Legos and drawing sessions at the coffee table on Sunday afternoons. My parents are the founders of 100 Fold Studio, a non-profit architecture firm. Through 100 Fold, I was allowed to live in Cambodia and Nepal for two separate summers and travel to Kenya and Mexico. These experiences opened my eyes to the world and different cultures at a young age and completely changed my heart. I play college volleyball for Whitworth University where I received my bachelors in graphic design and am currently pursuing a master’s in busness leadership. I currently work for Station Seven, a web design company in Spokane, WA. I fill my free time with snowboarding, hiking, and admiring Montana's big sky. My experiences, travels, and family have heavily influenced me as an artist and creator.
“Every design is an invitation for the viewer to embark on an adventure.”
My motivation to create comes from my desire for adventure. To me, adventure is a new experience, place, or emotion that gives you that exhilarating feeling that comes when trying something new or stepping out of your comfort zone. My preferred medium is a felt-tip pen and sketchbook but I’ve always loved painting on canvas as well. In the fine arts, such as painting, drawing, and photography, I capture the spirit of adventure with an abstract approach using large blocks of color and simplified forms. Doodling and hand-lettering led me to discover my love for graphic design. When approaching graphic design, I believe that every design is an invitation for the viewer to embark on an adventure– trying a new product, going to an event, joining a company, or visiting a place. I use organic shapes and vibrant colors as a way to reel in the audience, bubbly and imperfect fonts to create a sense of comfort and playfulness, and comical illustrations to charm them. Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Indesign allow me to create graphics and illustrations without limits. My mission for my art is to help clients advertise the adventure they have to offer in an intentional and effective way that ultimately draws people into an adventure.
